The free tools remain free of charge. Presence Story is a paid, credit-based product with a free first story, as noted below.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Presence. By accessing or using Presence, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
What Presence does
Presence is an interview-preparation tool designed to help users organize and review their own professional experience through structured practices, preparation materials, and reference documents intended for personal preparation purposes.
Presence is offered in two forms: the free tools and Presence Story. The free tools run in your browser with no account. Presence Story is a hosted, account-based coaching product, described further under Presence Story below. In these Terms, 'the free tools' means the browser application at /tools/, 'Presence Story' or 'Story' means the hosted coaching product, and 'Presence' or 'the Service' means both of these together.
Tiers
A complete preparation, kept on your device.
The free tools include one complete preparation. The full "About you" methodology, with eight anchor stories, career arc, and the Underneath layer, comes along with one organization preparation and per-interviewer interview sessions, and the executive briefing-packet output.
Preparation content is stored in your browser's local storage on the device you used to enter it. No account is required.
A hosted, credit-based coaching product.
Your first story, worked through the coach to export, is free, once per account. Beyond that, running a new story through the coach consumes a Presence credit, purchased in packs or individually as described under Purchases and credits below.
An account is required. Story content is stored on Presence's servers as described in the Privacy Policy.
Purchases and credits
Presence Story is metered in Presence credits, purchased in packs or individually, through Stripe Checkout. Payment card details are entered directly into Stripe's hosted checkout page and are not received or stored by Presence. See the Privacy Policy for how payment confirmation data is handled.
Presence credit purchases are one-time payments, not subscriptions. There is no recurring charge, and no auto-renewal to cancel.
Credits do not expire. Once purchased, a credit remains available on your account until spent, regardless of how long you wait to use it.
A credit is consumed once, at the first coaching turn for that story. Retries, network failures, and resumed sessions do not consume an additional credit for the same story. Starting work on a new story consumes a new credit (or, for a four-beat target structure, the credit weighting disclosed in the diagnostic before you commit to the run).
Refunds
Because a credit is consumed only once real coaching work begins, and because Stripe processing fees are non-recoverable, purchases are generally final once a credit from that purchase has been spent. If you believe a credit was consumed in error, for example due to a technical fault rather than your own use of the coach, contact presence.advisory@gmail.com and we will review it in good faith. Unspent credits from a purchase you wish to reverse may be eligible for a refund at our discretion, requested within a reasonable time of purchase.
Free-tier persistence and your responsibility
This section concerns the free tools only; Presence Story stores your content on our servers as described in the Privacy Policy, not in your browser.
The free tools store your preparation content in your browser's local storage. Presence servers do not hold a copy.
You acknowledge that locally stored data may be lost or become inaccessible if you clear your browser data, sign out of your browser profile, switch browsers, use private or incognito mode, switch devices, reinstall the operating system, or use a browser or operating system that automatically clears site data.
Backing up and exporting your preparation is your responsibility. Presence provides export and transfer features to support this, but it is your choice when and whether to use them.
Presence is not responsible for preparation content that becomes inaccessible because of the operation of your browser, device, or operating system, or because of your own actions in clearing or moving between environments.

Presence does not provide career, legal, financial, employment, psychological, or professional advice. You remain responsible for evaluating and deciding how to use any materials generated through the service.
Presence is a preparation aid only and does not guarantee interviews, callbacks, offers, employment outcomes, or interview performance.
Free access
Free access to the free tools includes the preparation, the briefing packet, transfer between devices, and local browser storage of your preparation. Free access does not include an account.
Free access is subject to fair-use limits, including, without limitation, per-IP rate limits on the transfer relay and other supporting services, to prevent abuse and maintain availability.
Presence Story accounts and termination
Your Presence Story account is personal to you and may not be shared, transferred, or sold. You are responsible for the security of your sign-in credentials.
You may stop using Presence Story, or delete your stories, at any time as described in the Privacy Policy. Deleting your stories does not by itself close your account or forfeit an unspent credit balance; unspent credits remain associated with your account.
We may suspend or terminate an account for violation of these Terms, suspected abuse or fraud, or nonpayment or chargeback of a purchase, including forfeiture of a credit balance obtained through the disputed payment. Where reasonably practicable, we will attempt to notify you first and give you the opportunity to export your stories.
If Presence Story is discontinued in whole, we will provide reasonable advance notice and an opportunity to export your stories before shutdown. Unspent credit balances at discontinuation will be handled in accordance with applicable law; where a refund is not required by law, we intend to offer one in good faith.
Refunds and availability
Presence is an evolving product. Features and availability may change. Temporary interruptions, maintenance windows, AI service failures, degraded output quality, or feature removals may occur. Refund handling for Presence credit purchases is described under Purchases and credits above.
User responsibilities
You agree to use Presence only for lawful personal preparation purposes. You agree not to do any of the following.
- Submit information you do not have permission to use.
- Attempt to bypass access restrictions or interfere with the service.
- Abuse, overload, probe, reverse engineer, or disrupt AI-assisted features or related systems.
- Use Presence to generate unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, harassing, or misleading materials.
- Misrepresent AI-generated content as verified factual information without your own review.
Privacy and third-party services
Use of Presence is also governed by the Privacy Policy.
Certain features rely on third-party providers: Stripe (payments), WorkOS (Presence Story sign-in), Google's Gemini API (Presence Story coaching inference), Cloudflare (hosting and analytics), and Formspree (feedback forms). Those providers may process information according to their own terms, privacy policies, logging practices, and operational requirements.
License
Presence and the method, including their structure and content, are owned by Cheerful Brook Holdings, LLC and are protected by intellectual property law. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
Feedback
If you send feedback, including through a feedback form linked in a File, you agree that your feedback is not confidential, and you grant Presence a perpetual, royalty-free right to use it to operate and improve Presence, with no obligation or payment to you.
No warranty
Presence is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cheerful Brook Holdings, LLC disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, reliability, and uninterrupted operation.
The service may contain errors, interruptions, inaccuracies, security issues, or unexpected behavior.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cheerful Brook Holdings, LLC and its operators, owners, affiliates, contractors, licensors, and service providers disclaim liability for any of the following.
- Interview outcomes.
- Hiring or employment decisions.
- Reliance on generated materials.
- Lost opportunities.
- Lost profits or business interruption.
- Data loss or corruption, including loss of locally stored free-tier preparation content or Presence Story content.
- Indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages.
- Consequences arising from use of or inability to use the service.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, total liability arising out of or related to Presence will not exceed the amount paid, if any, for access to the service.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut.
Changes to these terms
These Terms may be updated as Presence evolves. Material updates will be reflected on this page. Continued use after updated terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
