Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Presence. By accessing or using Presence, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
What Presence does
Presence is an interview-preparation tool designed to help users organize and review their own professional experience through structured practices, preparation materials, and reference documents intended for personal preparation purposes.
Presence is offered as a web application and as downloadable method files. The web application runs in your browser. The method files are Markdown documents you download and run inside a third-party AI tool you choose, such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. The Presence Starter is available now and free. In these Terms, 'the Files' means the Presence Starter and any additional method files Presence offers, 'the web app' means the browser application, and 'Presence' or 'the Service' means all of these together.
Tiers
A complete preparation, kept on your device.
Free includes one complete preparation. The full "About you" methodology, with eight anchor stories, career arc, and the Underneath layer, comes along with one organization preparation and per-interviewer interview sessions, and the executive briefing-packet output.
Preparation content is stored in your browser's local storage on the device you used to enter it. No account is required.
Pro is in development. Details and terms for Pro will be added here when it becomes available.
Free-tier persistence and your responsibility
Free stores your preparation content in your browser's local storage. Presence servers do not hold a copy.
You acknowledge that locally stored data may be lost or become inaccessible if you clear your browser data, sign out of your browser profile, switch browsers, use private or incognito mode, switch devices, reinstall the operating system, or use a browser or operating system that automatically clears site data.
Backing up and exporting your preparation is your responsibility. Presence provides export and transfer features to support this, but it is your choice when and whether to use them.
Presence is not responsible for preparation content that becomes inaccessible because of the operation of your browser, device, or operating system, or because of your own actions in clearing or moving between environments.

Presence does not provide career, legal, financial, employment, psychological, or professional advice. You remain responsible for evaluating and deciding how to use any materials generated through the service.
Presence is a preparation aid only and does not guarantee interviews, callbacks, offers, employment outcomes, or interview performance.
Running the Files in third-party AI tools
The Files are designed to run inside third-party AI tools that you choose and control, such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. Presence does not provide, host, or operate these tools, and does not initiate or process any AI request on your behalf when you use the Files.
When you run a File, the content you enter goes to the AI provider you have chosen, and is handled under that provider's terms and privacy policy, not these Terms. Presence does not receive, store, or have access to that content.
The Files instruct the AI to follow the Presence method, including not to invent facts, not to write your answers for you, and to hold certain boundaries. AI tools are probabilistic and may not follow these instructions. Output may be inaccurate, incomplete, fabricated, or inconsistent with the method, and may include claims, numbers, employers, or outcomes you did not provide. You are responsible for reading, verifying, and correcting all output before relying on it or carrying it into an interview.
Presence has no control over and accepts no responsibility for the availability, behavior, accuracy, output, or data practices of any third-party AI tool.
Free access
Free access includes the preparation, the briefing packet, transfer between devices, and local browser storage of your preparation. Free access does not include an account.
Free access is subject to fair-use limits, including, without limitation, per-IP rate limits on the transfer relay and other supporting services, to prevent abuse and maintain availability.
Refunds and availability
Presence is an evolving product. Features and availability may change. Temporary interruptions, maintenance windows, AI service failures, degraded output quality, or feature removals may occur.
User responsibilities
You agree to use Presence only for lawful personal preparation purposes. You agree not to do any of the following.
- Submit information you do not have permission to use.
- Attempt to bypass access restrictions or interfere with the service.
- Abuse, overload, probe, reverse engineer, or disrupt AI-assisted features or related systems.
- Use Presence to generate unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, harassing, or misleading materials.
- Misrepresent AI-generated content as verified factual information without your own review.
- Do not redistribute, resell, repackage, or publicly post the Files, except for the sharing of the Starter permitted under its license.
- Do not remove or alter Presence credit, links, or notices in the Files.
- Do not use the Files to train AI models or to build competing or derivative products.
Privacy and third-party services
Use of Presence is also governed by the Privacy Policy.
Certain features rely on third-party providers, such as payment processors, hosting, AI providers, analytics, and support platforms. Those providers may process information according to their own terms, privacy policies, logging practices, and operational requirements.
License to use the Files
Presence and the method, including the Files, their structure, and their content, are owned by Cheerful Brook Holdings, LLC and are protected by intellectual property law. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
The Presence Starter is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). In plain terms: you may use it for your own preparation and share it with others, provided you share the complete file without modification, keep all credit and links intact, do not sell it or charge for access to it, and do not present it as your own work. The full license is at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/.
You may not use the Starter, or its contents, to train or fine-tune any AI model, or to build a competing or derivative product, method, or service. Licenses for any paid Files will be provided with those Files when they become available.
File versions
The Files are updated from time to time. A copy you download is a snapshot of the version available at that moment. We are not obligated to deliver updates to copies you already hold, and the version you run is the version you have. Each File notes when it was last updated. The Starter is offered in beta, may change or be withdrawn, and is provided as is.
Feedback
If you send feedback, including through a feedback form linked in a File, you agree that your feedback is not confidential, and you grant Presence a perpetual, royalty-free right to use it to operate and improve Presence, with no obligation or payment to you.
No warranty
Presence is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cheerful Brook Holdings, LLC disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, reliability, and uninterrupted operation.
The service may contain errors, interruptions, inaccuracies, security issues, or unexpected behavior.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cheerful Brook Holdings, LLC and its operators, owners, affiliates, contractors, licensors, and service providers disclaim liability for any of the following.
- Interview outcomes.
- Hiring or employment decisions.
- Reliance on generated materials.
- Lost opportunities.
- Lost profits or business interruption.
- Data loss or corruption, including loss of locally stored Free-tier preparation content.
- Indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages.
- Consequences arising from use of or inability to use the service.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, total liability arising out of or related to Presence will not exceed the amount paid, if any, for access to the service.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut.
Changes to these terms
These Terms may be updated as Presence evolves. Material updates will be reflected on this page. Continued use after updated terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
