The free tools store your preparation only in this browser. Presence has no database of that content. No account is required.
Presence Story and Presence Brief are hosted, account-based products. Your stories and briefs are encrypted at rest, visible only to you, and never used to train AI models. You can export or permanently delete them at any time. In Presence Brief, the organization you're interviewing with is encrypted too, not only the brief content.
If you transfer free-tool preparation between devices, it is encrypted before it leaves and only you hold the key.
We use analytics for aggregate usage only, never your preparation or story content.
When you run a downloadable file, you run it in your own AI tool, such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini, so what you enter goes to that provider under their privacy policy, not to us. Presence never receives it.

Presence is offered in four forms. The free tools, Presence Story, Presence Brief, and downloadable method files. They handle your information differently, on purpose. This policy describes each in plain terms.
In the free tools, your preparation stays on your device, and Presence never receives it. In Presence Story and Presence Brief, your content is stored encrypted, visible only to you, and used only to run the session you asked for. When you run a downloadable file, you run it inside an AI tool you choose, so your content goes to that provider, not to Presence. Several paths, described in plain terms below.
Where your data goes
We use analytics to count visits and understand which features are used, never your preparation or story content.
How storage works
A complete preparation, kept on your device.
All preparation content, including your worksheet responses, anchor stories, career arc, organization notes, and interview-session notes, is stored in your browser using local storage on the device you used to enter it.
Presence servers never receive this content. There is no Presence-side database of your preparation from the free tools. No account is required.
A hosted, account-based coaching session.
Your stories, revisions, and coaching transcripts are stored in Presence's database (Cloudflare D1), encrypted at rest. Only you can read your own stories. Presence staff do not review story content as a matter of course.
An account, created through our authentication provider (WorkOS), is required to run a story through the coach. See Accounts below.
A hosted, account-based decode of a role.
Your briefs, the materials you paste (position description and anything else you add), and the analyst transcript are stored in Presence's database, encrypted at rest. The organization you're interviewing with is encrypted as well, not only the brief content, because for this product the fact of the search is often more sensitive than its contents.
The same account used for Presence Story is used for Presence Brief. See Accounts below.
What information leaves your device
Free tools
Only the following leaves your device.
- Standard web analytics (page views, referrer, basic device information), as described in Analytics below.
- Any support or feedback communications you choose to send, including the contents of your message and the email address you reply from.
- Encrypted preparation content, only if you use the Transfer feature. It is encrypted on your device before anything leaves, held by a Presence-operated relay for at most 15 minutes, then auto-deleted. Presence cannot read this content. See Continuing your preparation on another device below.
Your preparation content, in readable form, does not leave your device through the free tools.
Presence Story
Because Story is a hosted coaching product, more leaves your device by design.
- Your email address and authentication details, handled by WorkOS. See Accounts below.
- The story content you submit and every revision made through the coach loop, sent to Presence's servers and stored encrypted. See Presence Story · how your data is handled below.
- The same story content, sent to our AI model provider to run the coaching session. See When you use Presence Story, Presence Brief, or the downloadable files below.
- Payment details, if you purchase credits, handled directly by Stripe. See Payments below.
Presence Brief
Because Brief is also a hosted product, more leaves your device by design.
- Your email address and authentication details, handled by WorkOS. See Accounts below.
- The position description and any other materials you paste (strategy excerpts, earnings language, recent news, a panel list) and every turn of the analyst conversation, sent to Presence's servers and stored encrypted. See Presence Brief · how your data is handled below.

Presence Story · how your data is handled
Presence Story is a hosted coaching product, unlike the free tools. The following commitments apply to every story you run through it.
- Your stories are stored encrypted and are visible only to you. Presence does not sell or share story content with anyone.
- Story content is never used to train AI models, ours or our model provider's. Inference calls run under our model provider's paid-service terms, which do not permit using your prompts or responses to improve their products. The provider separately retains prompts and outputs for 55 days solely to detect abuse of its usage policies, reviewable only by its authorized staff for that purpose, then deletes them. This abuse-monitoring copy is not used to train any model. See When you use Presence Story, Presence Brief, or the downloadable files below.
- You can export your stories, or permanently delete them, at any time from the account screen. See Deleting your data below.
- No third-party analytics are attached to story content. Presence's own page-level analytics, described in Analytics below, never include what you wrote.
Presence Brief · how your data is handled
Presence Brief decodes a position description and whatever else you supply about a role into a structured read of what the panel is scoring. The following commitments apply to every brief you run.
- Your briefs, the materials you paste, and the analyst transcript are stored encrypted and are visible only to you. Presence does not sell or share brief content with anyone.
- The organization you're interviewing with is encrypted too, not only the brief content. Story leaves titles readable. Brief encrypts the employer name as well, because for this audience the fact of an active search is often more sensitive than its contents.
- Brief content is never used to train AI models, under the same paid-service model-provider terms described for Presence Story above. See When you use Presence Story, Presence Brief, or the downloadable files below.
- You can export your briefs, or permanently delete them, at any time from the account screen. See Deleting your data below.
- No third-party analytics are attached to brief content. Presence's own page-level analytics, described in Analytics below, never include what you pasted or what the analyst wrote back.
- Please don't paste anything shared with you under NDA or marked confidential. Some search processes share internal documents with finalists. Brief is designed to work from the position description and materials that are already public or already legitimately in your hands, and asks for nothing more. This is also stated where you paste your materials.
Accounts
Presence Story and Presence Brief share one account and one sign-in, created the first time you run either. Sign-in is handled by WorkOS, our authentication provider. Presence does not directly receive or store your password.
We store your email address, an internal account identifier, and, if you purchase credits, a Stripe customer identifier used to reconcile purchases. Credits are a single balance spendable in either product. We do not use your account email for anything other than authentication, purchase receipts, and product communications you can opt out of.
When you use Presence Story, Presence Brief, or the downloadable files
Presence does not operate any AI on the free tools. Local preparation in the free tools involves no AI processing at all.
In Presence Story
Running a story through the coach sends your story content to our AI model provider (Google's Gemini API) to generate the diagnostic, critique, questions, and revisions. This happens under the API's paid-service terms, under which your prompts and responses are not used to improve Google's products or to train its models. Google separately retains prompts and outputs for 55 days for abuse-policy enforcement only, then deletes them. Presence does not use your story content to train any model, generalized or otherwise.
In Presence Brief
Running a decode sends the position description and any other materials you pasted, plus your questions to the analyst, to the same AI model provider (Google's Gemini API) under the same paid-service terms as Presence Story. Not used to improve Google's products or to train its models, with prompts and outputs separately retained for 55 days for abuse-policy enforcement only, then deleted. Presence does not use your brief content to train any model.
In the downloadable files
The downloadable files are designed to run inside a third-party AI tool you choose, such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. When you run a file, the content you enter goes to that AI provider and is handled under that provider's privacy policy, not this one. Presence does not initiate the request, does not receive the content, and has no access to it.
Whether your content is retained or used to improve the provider's models is set by the provider you chose and the plan you are on, not by Presence. Before you use a file, review your AI tool's privacy policy and data settings. If you want to keep your inputs out of model training, choose a provider and plan that does not train on your inputs, or turn that setting off.
Analytics
What we measure
Anonymous page visits, so we can see which parts of Presence are useful and improve the rest. We use Cloudflare's privacy-friendly analytics, which set no cookies and collect no personal data. There is nothing tied to you, so there is nothing to opt out of.
On the free tools, this aggregate data helps us understand general usage patterns, including how the Transfer feature is used across devices, and to apply fair-use limits on the relay service.
On Presence Story and Presence Brief, signed-in usage (such as credits granted, credits spent, and pack purchased) may be associated with your account for product analytics. This never includes your story content, brief content, or transcripts.
What analytics never touch
On the free tools, your preparation never touches a server at all. Everything you write stays in this browser, and if you move it between devices, you move it yourself, encrypted, and we cannot read it. On Presence Story and Presence Brief, your content is stored and processed as described in Presence Story · how your data is handled and Presence Brief · how your data is handled above, but is never included in analytics, never sold, and never used to train models.
Information you provide
Depending on how you use Presence, you may provide preparation materials such as resume text, role descriptions, organization context, optional cover-letter text, worksheet responses, feedback, and optional contact information.
If you use Presence Story, you additionally provide an email address to create your account, the story content and revisions you work through with the coach, and, if you purchase credits, payment information handled directly by Stripe.
If you use Presence Brief, you additionally provide an email address (the same account as Story, if you have one), a position description and any other materials you choose to paste about the role or organization, and your side of the analyst conversation.
Continuing your preparation on another device (Free)
Free includes an optional feature that lets you move your worksheet to a different device or browser, for example from your phone to your laptop, without emailing yourself a file or storing your content on Presence servers.
When you use this feature, your preparation is encrypted on your device using a code and key only you possess, before it leaves your device. The encrypted content is held briefly by a relay service operated by Presence, for no longer than 15 minutes, so your other device can retrieve it. Once retrieved, the content is decrypted locally on the new device using the key you provide.
Presence cannot read your preparation during this process. The transfer is deleted automatically once it has been picked up or after 15 minutes, whichever comes first.
Payments
Presence credits are purchased through Stripe Checkout, a hosted payment page operated by Stripe. Your card details are entered directly into Stripe's checkout page and never touch Presence's servers.
Presence receives confirmation that a purchase completed, the Stripe customer identifier used to reconcile future purchases, and the pack or credit amount purchased. Presence does not receive or store your card number, expiration date, or security code.
Credits do not expire and are Stripe one-time payments, not a subscription. There is no recurring charge to cancel.
Feedback and support
Feedback submitted through Presence may be processed through Formspree and shared with the operator for product improvement and support purposes.
If you contact Presence by email, the information in your message may be used to respond to your request.
How information is used
Information may be used to do the following.
- Provide the preparation and briefing-packet features, the Presence Story coaching sessions, and the Presence Brief decodes.
- Respond to support, feedback, and privacy requests.
- Improve the product.
- Maintain security, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
Presence does not sell personal information or preparation materials.
Presence does not use submitted content to train foundation AI models or generalized machine learning systems.
Age restriction
Presence is intended for users age 18 and older. Do not use Presence if you are under 18.
Your choices
On the free tools, you may delete locally stored preparation data from within the application at any time. You may also export an editable backup or a readable copy of your preparation.
Deleting your data
From the account screen, you can export all your stories, or all your briefs, at any time, and you can permanently delete all of either with a typed confirmation. Deletion removes your story or brief content, materials, and transcripts immediately. They are not recoverable afterward.
Presence keeps a minimal, content-free record that a story or brief once existed, so that your free unit and any spent credits are counted correctly and are not silently refunded by a delete. For a deleted brief, that record holds no organization name, no pasted materials, and no transcript, only that a slot was used. The same is true for a deleted story.
