If you transfer it between devices, it is encrypted before it leaves and only you hold the key.

When you run a downloadable file, you run it in your own AI tool, such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini, so what you enter goes to that provider under their privacy policy, not to us. Presence never receives it.

Presence is offered as a web app and as downloadable method files. They handle your information differently, on purpose. This policy describes each in plain terms.
In the web app, your preparation stays on your device, and Presence never receives it. When you run a downloadable file, you run it inside an AI tool you choose, so your content goes to that provider, not to Presence. Two paths, described in plain terms below.
Where your data goes
We use analytics to count visits and understand which features are used, never your preparation content.
How storage works in the web app
A complete preparation, kept on your device.
All preparation content, including your worksheet responses, anchor stories, career arc, organization notes, and interview-session notes, is stored in your browser using local storage on the device you used to enter it.
Presence servers never receive this content. There is no Presence-side database of your preparation on the Free tier. No account is required.
What information leaves your device
On Free
Only the following leaves your device.
- Standard web analytics (page views, referrer, basic device information), as described in Analytics below.
- Any support or feedback communications you choose to send, including the contents of your message and the email address you reply from.
- Encrypted preparation content, only if you use the Transfer feature. It is encrypted on your device before anything leaves, held by a Presence-operated relay for at most 15 minutes, then auto-deleted. Presence cannot read this content. See Continuing your preparation on another device below.
Your preparation content, in readable form, does not leave your device on Free.
When you use the downloadable files
Presence does not operate any AI on your content. The web app includes no AI processing of your preparation.
The downloadable files are designed to run inside a third-party AI tool you choose, such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. When you run a file, the content you enter goes to that AI provider and is handled under that provider's privacy policy, not this one. Presence does not initiate the request, does not receive the content, and has no access to it.
Whether your content is retained or used to improve the provider's models is set by the provider you chose and the plan you are on, not by Presence. Before you use a file, review your AI tool's privacy policy and data settings. If you want to keep your inputs out of model training, choose a provider and plan that does not train on your inputs, or turn that setting off.
Pro waitlist
If you provide an email address through the "Notify me when Pro launches" form, that email address is used only to notify you when Pro becomes available and to send related product updates.
Waitlist emails are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes. They are held by Formspree on Presence's behalf and may be processed by Formspree under its own terms for delivery purposes only.
You may request removal at any time by emailing presence.advisory@gmail.com.
Analytics
What we measure
Anonymous page visits, so we can see which parts of Presence are useful and improve the rest. We use Cloudflare's privacy-friendly analytics, which set no cookies and collect no personal data. There is nothing tied to you, so there is nothing to opt out of. When you copy or download the starter, we record only that a copy or download happened and whether the device was mobile or desktop, with no identifier.
On Free, this aggregate data helps us understand general usage patterns, including how the Transfer feature is used across devices, and to apply fair-use limits on the relay service.
On Pro, signed-in usage may be associated with your account for product analytics related to your activity while logged in.
What we never touch
Your preparation. Everything you write stays in this browser and is never sent to a server. If you move it between devices, you move it yourself, encrypted, and we cannot read it.
Information you provide
Depending on how you use Presence, you may provide preparation materials such as resume text, role descriptions, organization context, optional cover-letter text, worksheet responses, feedback, and optional contact information.
Continuing your preparation on another device (Free)
Free includes an optional feature that lets you move your worksheet to a different device or browser, for example from your phone to your laptop, without emailing yourself a file or storing your content on Presence servers.
When you use this feature, your preparation is encrypted on your device using a code and key only you possess, before it leaves your device. The encrypted content is held briefly by a relay service operated by Presence, for no longer than 15 minutes, so your other device can retrieve it. Once retrieved, the content is decrypted locally on the new device using the key you provide.
Presence cannot read your preparation during this process. The transfer is deleted automatically once it has been picked up or after 15 minutes, whichever comes first.
Payments
Paid files are in development. When they launch, this policy will be updated to cover payment processing and the email used to deliver your order.
Feedback and support
Feedback submitted through Presence may be processed through Formspree and shared with the operator for product improvement and support purposes.
If you contact Presence by email, the information in your message may be used to respond to your request.
How information is used
Information may be used to do the following.
- Provide the preparation and briefing-packet features.
- Respond to support, feedback, and privacy requests.
- Improve the product.
- Maintain security, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
Presence does not sell personal information or preparation materials.
Presence does not use submitted content to train foundation AI models or generalized machine learning systems.
Age restriction
Presence is intended for users age 18 and older. Do not use Presence if you are under 18.
Your choices
On Free, you may delete locally stored preparation data from within the application at any time. You may also export an editable backup or a readable copy of your preparation.

Changes to this policy
This policy may change as Presence evolves. Material updates will be reflected on this page, and the effective date above will be updated.
